With the continuing growing of the Internet and the growing demand for more and larger scaled distributed applications, middleware will sure to be the most competitive approach to implement those applications. According the aims and implementing mechanisms, middlewares could be categorized approximately into three classes:RPC桞ased Middleware, Messaging桹riented Middleware (MOM) and Object Request Broker Middleware. This thesis, based on the MOM product of Beijing TongTech, Co. LTD, called TongLinklQ, will give a general discuss of MOM. The thesis?focus will be on one of the important components of MOM, the Event Management Subsystem (EMS).The thesis begins its discussion by introducing the concept of middleware and the classification of middleware, then it attempts to give detailed discussions on Distributed Event Specification, Publishing / Subscribing Model and the Construction of Global State of a Distributed System. The thesis ends with the discussion on the design and implementation of the Event Management Subsystem of TongLINK/Q.
