Modulation Domain?(MOD) is a plane domain which is consisted of frequency and time of signals. It is a necessary field to measure signals in three-dimension space of signal (time domain, frequency domain and modulation domain). In recent years 揗odulation domain analysis?offers a unique method for viewing complex modulated signals. 揗odulation Domain Analyzer?MDA) may be used to analyze signal features that include of frequency, time interval and phase versus time. It has a wide range of application in digital communication system, radar and electronic warfare system, mechanical electronic system, etc. After 3 years?effort, our research group has made a practical MDA. The main objective of this paper is to test and verify a new way to measure frequency by three related counters. After analyzing the principle of frequency measurement by one counter in normal electronic instrument and by two related counters in MDA, a new way was put forth. In this way, one counter is used to test event signal, and other two counters are used to test standard signal. At the same time, the key component of MDA-2.5GHz signal has been realized with single-chip PLL synthesizer via two different methods. The practical test result indicates that this new way is feasible and achieves the demand of our task. And realization of 2.5GHz signal helps to the future research of synthesizer with PLL.
