Data Warehouse And Multidimensional Analysis

Now Data Warehousing is becoming the new hot point of IT industry. This thesis first elaborates the emergence and developing of data warehousing, the conception of OLTP and OLAP, the conception and operation of multi-dimensional analysis, the conception of Data Warehousing, the difference and connection between DW and DB, the characteristics of the data in DW, the components of DW system, the conception and classes of Data Mart. Then a method used to build DW is introduced, which is called message packaging method. It includes how to design the structure of DW, what should be done at every stage of the life cycle of DW projects, how to collect the information by information package and bow to build the data structure by astral map. At last, a real DW case is given, which is the DW of the Committee of Science and Technology of Liaoning Province. In the case the design and analysis of building the DW and the multi-dimensional analysis base on the DW are elaborated in details.
