An Empirical Study On Internet Usage Of Yao Village Residents

In today’s world, the Internet has penetrated every aspect of people’s lives. People’s traditional lifestyle is being changed while the new lifestyle is being reshaped. It’s obvious that Internet has affected the city life greatly, then what kind of role does it play in a village which is in backward for city development, but is the core area of villages around.This article takes the question above as a starting point, using questionnaires interviews, literature analysis and field research methods, basing on data analysis and literature comparison to study Yao village residents’Internet usage and the Internet’s influences for Yao village residents’ access to daily information, Yao village residents’ economic life, Yao village residents’ interpersonal communication and their public affairs participation. The results shows that though Yao village residents have strong desire to contact Internet and they have contacted Internet widely, they can not understand the usage of the Internet deeply. They use the Internet as recreation tools instead of dealing with economic and public affairs. Also, the contaction of the Internet varied with the demographic characteristics. The research shows the changing of Yao village residents’ life style based on the Internet.
