With the development of IoT (Internet of Things) technology and continuously increasing attention paid to the quality and safety of food, a lot of information tracing systems for meat, vegetables and other kinds of food have been built by local governments or enterprises all over China. However, these systems are using their customized object identification schemes and customized Web Service interfaces. This makes it difficult for these tracing systems to be integrated and share data instantly along supply chains.Based on our research on background work in this technical area and the actual domestic business requirement, we proposed a new IoT information addressing system which can support multiple object encoding schemes and enable information discovery at the serial level under a wide scope and large data volume. This IoT information addressing system is designed based on the architecture framework of EPCGlobal.We proposed an Object Naming Service mechanism to dynamically support multiple object encoding schemes. This mechanism is enabled by an approach to formalize the decoding rules and decouple them from the running ONS program. OID is imported to manage different decoding rules and an extended ONS architecture is designed and evaluated.A mechanism for protecting the object identifications and its naming service is also proposed. It injects secret key based security extension code into the object identifications so that invalid or forged object identifications can be detected. Meanwhile, DNSSEC technology is used to ensure the security of ONS so that IoT resources returned by ONS are always trustable.A new discovery service mechanism based on a new storage is designed. This mechanism takes use of a Key-Value storage schema and HBase. It improves the DS server’s ability to discover in large data and process large amount of concurrent requests significantly.
