With the rapid development of wireless sensor network (WSN) and the Internet of things technology, there have been more and more occasions need location-based services. And ZigBee technology is widely used in wireless sensor network for its characteristics such as low cost, low power consumption and high reliability. Therefore, it has strong practical significance to realize the positioning of target.This paper studied the three-dimensional target positioning technology based on ZigBee. Based on the research on ZigBee technology and positioning technology of wireless sensor network (WSN), we choose the Received Signal Strength Indication (RSSI) positioning way to design the positioning system, and use average filtering and linear fitting method to optimize the RSSI ranging. The positioning system designed in this paper includes the ZigBee network node’s hardware platform, ZigBee node’s software and location management computer’s software. The core of node’s hardware platform is CC2530 chip, it includes the RF module and auxiliary module. The Software of node is designed based on TI company’s Z-Stack protocol stack, this paper detailed introduced the ZigBee network’s networking process and the function and program follow of each type of nod in the network. The positioning management computer’s software is developed in Visual C++ 6.0 programming environment, the paper presents the design scheme and the function of location management computer in detail.In the end of this paper, we tested the system designed by this paper through an experiment, and analyzed the result of test, the result of the test shows that:the system designed by this paper achieved the goal of target node’s three dimensional position. At the same time, aiming at the shortcomings of the system, point out the next research direction.
