With the accelerating urbanization process in China, increasingly fierce competition between cities, each city is committed to creating an exclusive core competitiveness, in order to remain invincible in the rapid economic development of society. Image of the city as the city’s "tag" is the most direct way to the city’s social cognition. Therefore, how to build a core competitiveness, economic attractiveness and image of the city where the unique charm of the city has become one of the important topics of media coverage. As the local mainstream media party newspaper, representing the authority and credibility, for shaping the image of the city has a certain role model to study the provincial capital of the party newspaper on image building and promotion of great significance.In this paper, the method chosen, "Inner Mongolia Daily" as the research object, using a sample survey methods and content analysis of the "Inner Mongolia Daily" involved in the 2012-2014 Hohhot promote the image sampling reports, by analyzing intent "Inner Mongolia Daily" found on urban image for the daily reported Hohhot, methods of propaganda, features, rules, etc., shape and perspective of the newspaper publicity Hohhot city’s image, the way and focus.It found that "Inner Mongolia Daily" reported on Hohhot city image by studying the author, with time span, density concentration, a wide range of diverse characteristics of the way, Hohhot create a "first-class capital city" work made a great contribution. But there are also some problems. I believe that some of the issues and phenomena, "Inner Mongolia Daily" through its own news and agenda setting, image building and advocacy Hohhot found during full display, aroused widespread concern and attention, and make full use of the media public opinion the pressure to promote the problem quickly resolved, and make micro-Bo, digital newspapers represented by the new media news coverage, through a combination of the application of traditional media and new media, to enhance the city’s image purposes.
