The media industry plays an important role in the national economy and social life. As one of the important cultural creative industry, media industry has a significant impact of the country’s politics, economy and culture. It is a new growth point of national economy. Although China’s media industry has a great progress, there is a huge gap compared with developed countries because of the late starting, the low degree of marketization and the limiting by bright or dark. Developed countries covet the huge media market of our country. They not only get huge profits but also promote their value concepts and political ideals by selling their media products. Therefore, we must vigorously develop media industry. Media collectivization is the important path for the development of media industry. It is the product of the mature media industry. The key to make a media group is to improve market access barriers. So it can have the cost advantage and differentiation which can bring the competitive advantages for the enterprise. As a separate industry, the media industry of the United States is more mature. Time warner is a famous media group in the United States. It develops under the background of the changes from the United States and the world media industry. With rebuilding the industry value chain, Time warner has been doing large-scale mergers and restructuring. The rapid development of communication technology breaks through the boundary of technology, industries, business and the market between media industry and other industries. Conform to the trend, the United States and other countries have changed their media industry policy,which speeds up the pace of industrial convergence. Time warner seizes the opportunity and constantly reshapes the industry value chain to realize the meaning of media collectivization. As a result, it is a typical representative of media collectivization by reshaping the industry value chain of Time warner, which has an important significance for the media collectivization of our country. This article is divided into five chapters. The first chapter introduces the selected topic background, the research object, the research objective and train of thought and method. The second chapter mainly introduces the literature review of the media collectivization, time warner and the value chain of industry. The third chapter is about the history of time warner. The fourth chapter is about the time warner collectivization road. The last one gives some suggestions to our country on the basis of the summary of time warner and the fact of our country.
