This paper is taking Reuters as an example to analyze the change of the news production under the age of the new media.With the development of China, the whole world is watching China and curious about what is happening in this country. Foreign media, with their very keen sensitivities, come to China in an increasing numbers. They set up news bureau in China, reporting the news of this country to the whole world. On the other hand, Chinese government adopted a series of tough rules on the foreign media based on various historical reasons. Foreign reporters’coverage area and sources are greatly limited, which brought many difficulties to their news production.In recent years, with the development of the new media, the rules and practices of traditional media have been greatly impacted. And these new media has also helped foreign media in China to dissolve the outside controls.As the most famous newswire agency in the world, Reuters is famous for its fast and objective news. This paper is taking Reuters as an example to analyze what kind of controls it is suffering in China and how the new media help the agency to dissolve all these controls.In the meantime, the paper is also analyzed the risks bringing with the new media and what kinds solutions Reuters came up with.
