Book, an important embodiment of content industry, is the product of the materialization of commodity economy. Therefore, it is an advanced economic model relative to industrial economy and service economy. The existence and trading of commodity have been changed as the intangible assets have dominated in economy. Unlike other commodities, book follows the law of increasing returns as one of the content products. Though the visible book still abides by the law of decreasing returns, undoubtly, its contents will increase in value by some effective measures. That is mean book makes itself more valuable by its contents.The mass book is one type of books which fascinates more readers for its interestingness and popularity compared with educational and professional books. As a crucial part of books, its appreciation reflects the new economic model and the tendency of content industry. It is a good example that most mass books have been adapted into movies or television plays in recent years, such as<Zhenhuanzhuan>,<Bubujingxin>,<Fendou> and other novels written by Jinyong and Haiyan. The fiery of these movies or television plays bring high sales of these books followed by the economic appreciation of them. Otherwise, it is only one of the ways to achieve mass book appreciation. The point is how to achieve the appreciation in economic and social benefits of the mass book.On both sides, the publisher and writer improve their influence to affect the public culture through the economic appreciation of their books. Considering the development of book publishing industry, mass book has the outstanding performance because of the lower consume and higher value added. The publishers which publish mass book produce creative books on account of its lower threshold compared with educational and professional books. That makes mass book appreciation easily.Book advertising, digital publication, copyright trading and derivative development are the significant processes to achieve book appreciation, and the important content of it is catching the opportunity and conquering the difficulty. In order to guide the traditional publisher surviving in modern media times, this paper researches on the different ways to achieve book appreciation for different popular books. Also we demonstrate it in theoretical and practical sides. We discuss the popular book appreciation depending on its copyright and affiliated right in the paper. Meanwhile, an effective process to achieve mass book appreciation, copyright development is the most important target.There are six parts in this paper. At first, the background, the meaning and the development of this research have been summarized. Secondly, we demonstrate the necessity of this research by explain the relatively concepts of book appreciation and calculate the sales of mass book. And on the Value-Chain’s guide, analyze added value, therefore, what the theory possible and necessarily of the practice. In the third part, the diversity of ways to achieve mass book appreciation has been discussed with depth. According to the third part, we analyze the advantages and disadvantages of different ways. In the fifth part, we focus on the issues in mass book appreciation and in the book industry. At last, some effective approaches solving the problems have been illuminated.
