In3rd April2010, the first generation of Tablet PC, iPad was issued. This sort of iPad had accomplished two update in next two year. This leaves not only a market magic, but also bring a digital reading fashion. With the challenge of the portable computers, how could the traditional media, in particular the press, to face? Should all the traditional media gave in, or just trying to catch up with the wave? Since numbers of the press has public their iPad edition, how is the current situation of them? What’re the differences within them?This dissertation was endeavor to explore this issue through data sorting, comparison analysis, as well as the depth interview with the press journalists and industry experts and the readers. After the exploration, we could reach the conclusion that readers’requirements of the information speed, the depth, the width of reports have elevated rapidly since the internet became more and more accessible in ten years. Unfortunately, majority of the mainstream and prestigious presses don’t have the capability to face this challenge. The tactics they took was rush, they don’t take advantage of the current resources anymore. The trainings and practices of the journalists and editors are inadequate.Nevertheless, the press also has advantages in authoritativeness and personnel. As a result, there is still tremendous space for digitalization of the traditional media. The author argued and explored in these areas.
