Teaching and research, the primary goal of colleges and universities, involves a wide range of contents and needs a coordinated management of project, funding and personnel. In recent years, with the growing number of university teachers, the total amount of scientific research, and the increasingly high demand of management and audit, the requirements of teaching research, information collection and management are constantly improving. The traditional artificial information collection and sorting has the unavoidable problems of low efficiency, feedback lag, incomplete information, etc. It cannot satisfy the improving management requirements. Under this background, the study of online research information management system has practical significance and. application value.In this thesis, we regarded the self-developed information system as the background, analyzing and studying the new generation research information system. Firstly, we introduced the relevant background and present situation of system developing, clarifying the purpose, significance and necessity of the system design research. Secondly, we introduced the J2EE development framework, APACHE POI open source project and the data visualization technology. We defined the system requirements and correspondent overall architecture design and hardware and software selection. We expounded the project background of the teaching and scientific research information management system and specific business requirements, on which we started the general framework of the system, the system of module, workflow and database designing. For the system specific design part, we discussed in details how to implement the data visualization technology, data export technology and user interface design. And there was a display of some specific function of the system. The last past was the summary and outlook of the thesis.
