Spatial information visualization, a current hot spot of computer research, is a kind of theory, method or technology applying the standout mode of computer graphics, image processing and cartology to intercrossing process the result of spatial information entering, process, inquiry and analysis in the way of visualization by presenting figures and image combined with diagrams, characters, tabulations and video records. It is the specific application of computer visualization technology for the sake of furthering exploratory investigation of the principle of spatial information through the visual effect in a virtual geographical environment. This thesis discusses spatial information visualization to the problem that narrow bandwidth and slow data transfer rate plus large amount of space data are far from enough to satisfy the user's expectation of high degree spatial data sharing, and has a study of spatial information visualization speed. This thesis firstly analyzes the importance of spatial information visualization and the present state of the research at home or abroad as well as problems remained in the beginning; then dissertates expatiate the basic theory of spatial information visualization. This thesis finally treatises the key point of spatial information visualization-spatial cartographic generalization and data multi-representation and progressive transmission of spatial vector data technology and what seen andwhat transmission technology and puts forward the resolution and carries on relevant experiment. Boundary map of Guangzhou City is selected as a example for the experiment.
