EMCCD is one of the most important progresses in the field of low light level imaging, the equivalent noise can still stay a very small level above MHz high-speed readout. In order to match the high speed of readout, a communication method of high-speed image data transmission must be choosen, and Camera Link data communication protocol is just set up specifically for the high speed image data transmission. Therefore, research of EMCCD camera image acquisition system base on Camera Link for high speed and low noise of image acquisition is significant.This paper introduces the communication protocol of Camera Link, configuration and hardware connection of Camera Link port in EMCCD camera. On the basis of this, process of Image acquisition system designs and implementation process of EMCCD camera based on Camera Link from hardware and software were introduced.For the outside part of hardware, X64-CL iProImage acquisition card was connected with EMCCD camera by Camera Link frame grabber, For the inside part of hardware, Camera Link interface circuit, Niosâ…ˇ core and peripheral circuit were designed.For the software, based on the Sapera LT6.31development kit, we take VC++6.0as a software development platform to complete the design, and C/C++language was used for the design of image acquisition system.API functions of Sapera LT was used to realize the capture of single-frame image, continuous image, video and the set of the operating mode, at the same time, Win32APIfunctioncan can be used to achieve the serial communication between image acquisition software and cameras. Finally, EMCCD camera online was tested amd part of the test results were given. Experimental results show that image acquisition system can work properly and achieve desired experimental results.The research works related in this thesis were supported by the Joint Found of Astronomy of Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) and Chinese Academy of sciences (CAS)(Grant No.10978013).
