With the rapid development of scientific progress and computer-related science intelligent equipment are more widely used in various environments and extensive support for serial communication. However, due to serial site environment, making re-erection of serial communication lines amplified difficult, for example, In the absence of a default serial communication line, the communication can not be achieved to realize the connection with the computer through a serial interface or control systems and site environment always have immutable structures and various restrictions. In addition, serial communication itself exist many problems to be solved urgently. For example, the reliability and the speed of data transmission are relatively low. It can not be achieved that a large number of serial devices communicate with a remote host. For these reasons, it also limits to more areas of development. Since the emergence of bottlenecks in technology and in order to make technology more widely, we must face is the problem. Get the desired effect by other means.In order to more effectively solve the problem of serial communication and achieve more serial devices communicate with one or more remote hosts, multi-port serial device server system came into being. It can be directly through the network operating efficiently monitor and operate serial devices in the case of data transmission distance. In the continuous exploration and research, we find that the embedded system superior processing speed and performance can make a higher serial server system efficiency. An ARM-based multi-port server is imperative.The main contents and results are as follows:1. Introduction about a serial server development at home and abroad as well as some related solutions.2. analysis and design the multi-port server from the whole, including functional analysis, structural analysis, etc.3. Build multi serial port server hardware platform. It were introduced that based on ARM cortex-M3-based32-bit high-performance processor STM32F107VT6and RS232serial. RS485interface and other necessary hardware modules. 4. Giving a complete software design, data on the hardware platform use a good serial server data to make multiple two-way communication come true. That is through converting the serial data into the data frame and is sent to the Ethernet network network data frame is converted into serial data stream is sent to the serial port equipment.Finally, the results of the device functionality and performance testing are summarized.
