University VI, being one of three core components of University IdentitySystem, its appearance brought a significant change to university advertisingcampaign. Within the help of VI, people gained further understanding about thespirit and characteristic of each university; it impressed the general public with amore vivid image, thus improving the awareness and fame of a university’s brand.In reality, a university creates UIS according to its feature and belief in order tomeet the needs to advert towards potential student. Currently, although VI elementhad been long applied to the advertising campaign, but it’s limited to the area ofprint media, its appliance and practice on Internet is relatively short andinexperienced.Nowadays, a time that IT technology develops sharply, how to efficientlyutilize the online platform to spread university’s feature and belief accurately in time,and eventually allow student, parent, and public to accept and understand, this wouldbe a major concern when advertising through university website. The method toblend university VI elements into the homepage interface effectively, assisting theorderly process of school’s advertising campaign, is what this paper would bemainly focusing and discussing on.This article will firstly introduce the design ideas and types of university VI,then provide some foundational knowledge on website design, combing with the factand instance of VI implements. The research will furthermore point out how thatschool website, as one kind of educational site, its design and development differsfrom the procedure of making commercial website. At the end, through an actualexample of JXUT website project, offering a theoretical guide with the principlesand approaches on applying VI elements to school website.
