With the rapid development of e-business, many companies deploy various software systems to manage daily business data including contact information. Take Deno Ltd. as an example, during the growth of company business, each separate department deploys relatively independent software systems based on its own job requirements. However, the differences among systems dramatically decrease the work efficiency of sales and customer services as employees of the company have to launch different systems to query specific contact's information. Furthermore, all systems may be relatively short in network data access capabilities as a result of emphasizing on their own business functionalities. The demand for developing a flexible system which can integrate all contact data from difference data sources and providing unified query interface is the highest priority on the roadmap.Drawbacks and weaknesses in contact data management of the company are analyzed at the first place. Based on the discussion of system functionalities, the necessity of developing a sophisticated contact management system using XQuery is hereby defined. Analyses are performed for the contact data extraction and transformation, data query and integration, as well as contact management. In addition, the detailed SOA-based contact management system design is carried out. The module based system is mainly divided into the following sub-systems:data extraction system, data query system, and data management system. The implementation of integration between data extraction system and data query system using XQuery is emphasized and advantages over the traditional web services interaction are highlighted. Finally, the extensibilities of system are discussed, as well, the future development is prospected.
