Web Services-based Data Management Research And Applications

With the rapid development of network information technology, many information systems have been developed to meet the information management needs. Since user requirements are uncertain at the beginning, which will be constantly changed in the process of information systems software development, even in the late stage of development, the user could propose changes. And in these situations, system database and software codes must be changed correspondingly. The change of codes make the life cycle and development costs of the software hard to control, which may affect normal on-line use of the software.This paper presents a method of metadata management, using this method to develop software, the codes of system data access layer are not need to modify when the system database is changed, which make software development more flexible.This paper introduce the idea of the Web services to the metadata management platform, which issue out the core services of metadata management in the form Web services, and the metadata management client can be developed with a variety of languages.Finally, this paper take the data resource publishing platform of newspaper as an example, which apply the thought of metadata management to the research and development of the content publishing and management platform of newspapers to build an unified platform. And in this way, once the requirements of the publishing platform are changed, the metadata management could deal with the change of database layer, so the system can flexibly respond to the feature of different newspapers' publishing platform.
