With the development of computer technology,image processing and network transmission technology,video surveillance system has gradually become the important technical means of modern management and detection.Because traditional wired networks of video surveillance there are obvious shortcomings, such as limit points by the node,the lack of mobility and flexibility,and wireless video surveillance system came into being.With the advent of the information age.Current video surveillance system development in the direction of digital and moving.Embedded Wireless Video Surveillance System integrates video compression,embedded systems,wireless communications and other new technologies,Makes the video surveillance system more professional,more stable, more reliable and has far-reaching theoretical and practical significance.This paper First introduced the video surveillance technology and its key technologies,and detailed explanation the H.264 video compression standard.Description its coding theory and key technologies, with the characteristics of Embedded Wireless Video Surveillance System, improvements the H.264 encoding interframe motion estimation for and effective to save the coding time, and join the bit-rate control mechanism to improve system stability. Second, discusses the structural features of Linux operating system and its hardware platform,and In-depth study of the Linux kernel porting.Designed the core modules of the hardware(SDRAM Memory Interface Module, Video data processing module and Network Interface Module) and the main software based on this discussion.Finally, summarized the design of the video surveillance system.During transmission in the wireless network,bit error rates are relatively high and has jitter.But the H.264 standard is only to emphasize its universal compression performance.After optimize H.264 standard enhanced the stability of the system.and Using GPRS wireless network for video data transmission。The Real-time of the video surveillance system still needs to be improved,and in future video surveillance system can be combined with a variety of sensors.
