Development Of A Mobile Video Surveillance Car Based On ARM And Linux Platform

Mobile robot technology is a focus today, which involves intelligent control, image recognition, information processing and other technologies. Mobile robot technology combines computer, electronics, machinery and other disciplines and with respect to traditional robots, the research of mobile robot technology is more challenging due to more intelligent elements are added in. Therefore, the research of mobile robot is concerned by the world.This paper aims at developing a mobile video surveillance car with the function of manual remote control and real-time video surveillance. In this system,video surveillance function is complied by setting up a video server on the car and accessing the Internet through a wireless network card, thus the users are able to visit Web pages on a PC. Manual remote control function is complied by sending control commands to the car through PC by means of wireless network card, which related to the formulation of Local Area Network and network programming.The hardware part of the system is composed of the Micro2440development board by taking ARM9as kernel, USB camera, wireless card and L298N module, among which the Micro2440is a core part of the entire mobile car system.The software part of the system mainly includes the implementation of embedded development platform, the host machine and lower machine. The embedded development platform is core to the Linux operating system, and contains a bootloader transplant and root file system’s customized. The host computer program is Windows-based control interface programming with MFC. Lower computer program mainly contains the driver and car control program, which mainly related to the driver development and network programming under Linux system.Experiments show that,the development of mobile video surveillance car is easy to operate, flexible on direction controlling and has good effect on video monitoring in this paper.
