With the development of the society, the traditional control and management maintenance measures no longer keep the pace with the development of modern cities, the remote monitoring of the street lights has become an inevitable trend of wireless monitoring system at home and abroad. This paper based on the lamp remote monitoring system of a residential area, developed an intelligent lights remote computer monitoring system, and application to the current remote monitoring and control system, realize digital intelligent management of lights. Through the analysis of extant street light supervisory system's function and the request to the street light control management, we realize the real-time controlling and monitoring of the street lamp with the aid of the distributional supervisory control and data acquisition system and the advanced communication technology—wireless and lineate communication. At the same time, in the choice of the street we adopt of the advanced LED lights. It largely relieves the shortage of the electric energy and saves the energy of the nation. We test on the GPRS and WMRNET module on the basis of introducing GPRS and WMRNET net. Moreover we realize the collection and transmission t of the date by programming and the processing of the WMRNET module. On the basis of these, we put the technology of GPRS and WMRNET in to the wireless monitoring system of the street lamp. The system of WMRNET collects the data of the terminal and transmits it to the host computer in time. The monitoring host computer adopts VB6.0+Mapx5.0 environment. Realize the monitoring system on the ground of the GIS function. By monitoring the GIS of the host computer, the workers can easily gain and learn the real situation of the terminal.
