School drop-out refer to disconting one's study in school ,leaving school halfway and forever, including interruption from school , leaving school and withdrawing from school education without finishing the stipulitated periods of education, except for normal graduation(completion of a course),death and transfer to another school . It is a long-exsted , changing problem in education history . At present ,many secondary school students in countryside dropped school halfway without finishing prescribed schooling, and it has been a nationwide problem ,though reasons of dropout in different areas differ greatly . therefore it needs connecting regonal situations and peculiarity with studying school droop-out.Since the promulgation of Compulsory Education Legislation in 1986 China has made marked progress in the popularization of the 9-year compulsory education and there is a considerable increase in the school attendance rate. However , due to varouse reasons which rise from our present educational system, the students themselves and their families, etc. there is a serouse phenomenon of school-quitting among primary and secorndory students in the rural areas, particularly in middle school. In the past several years, our country has increased the input to rural compulsory education, and let the free compulsory become true step by step .The rate of dropping out had also been controlled. But In the past several years, the rate of dropping out in primary and middle school turn back.Though quite a few measures have been taken to control the quitting rate, it is not so satisfactory judging from the result of these measures, moreover the present quitting rate of students is on a steady rise in rural secondary schools. The problem has brought severe side effects and constitutes a great obstacle for China s social and economic development, especially for the development of rural economy. It brings about poor education and illiteracy from generation to generation, and this in turn leads to greater difficulties to China's social and economic development, which becomes a majar hindrance to the development of education culture, economy, politics and democracy in China. With his own working experience.Having made a great deal of research work on school-quitting problem in Guan Xian Shan dong Province and other areas through China, together with his own working experience, the writer of this thesis has done a thorough and profound investigation on this urgent situation, so he has every justification to make an assessment and to illustrate the critical consequence brought about by this very problem : The school-quitting problem in rural areas is extremely serious and tends to bring more serious consequences to such an extent that high attention must be paid to by governments and all social circles, and efficient countermeasures must be taken to solve this problem. The writer in this thesis puts forward the practice solution to this problem through convincing analysis on the causes of school-quitting phenomenon among rural secondary students.
