The government attaches importance to the development of vocational education, of which the focus is secondary vocational education. Now it is the best time to develop secondary vocational education. But the development of secondary vocational school is restricted because of the common and serious phenomenon that students are apt to drop out of school. What is the reason? What should we do to cope with the matter?Searching related materials, we can occasionally find in the media some articles about the experience dealing with the situation. As for strategies, there is no practical and systematic advice. Adopting quantitative and qualitative research methods, this paper studies secondary vocational school teachers, students and their parents in order to probe into the reason why the students are not willing to continue their studies , and eventually propose some pertinent tactics.The main reasons why students are inclined to discontinue their studies are listed below : from a policy perspective, the local government made some mistaken policies; from the cultural perspective, the Chinese traditional culture which considers vocational education as inferior education brings out negative influence; from the perspective of sociology, we can see resonance effect; from job hunting, the bad working conditions, lower pay and unstable jobs are also the cause; from the school, the weak development of vocational schools is one of the important factors.Control strategy in the loss of students: 1, the Government must strengthen public opinion, the introduction of support policies to increase capital investment, and guide people to change the concept of vocational education, vocational education, create a favorable social and cultural development; 2, to be employment-oriented,meet market demand, to carry out school-enterprise cooperation, practical training, skills, talents, improve the quality of employment, to accelerate the development of vocational education; 3, to reform and innovation in vocational schools, updated school idea, take the connotation of development, only help to improvetheir educational level, can help the sustainable development of the health of students and control the loss of students.
