| Along with the trend of globalization, networking and cultural diversity, people made more and more concerns on college students associations. College students associations are amateur groups which are founded by the students who have the same interests and approved by the relevant authorities. However, if association only consists of people who have the same interest, it could never exist for a long time and show good momentum of growth and development. Why associations exist? What are the motives and drives of students to participate in the activities? Answer these two questions is to answer the question of institution-building issue of associations. The former researches of association have all been relevant with the relationship between associations and universities. The goal of associations is to complete the university culture, to provide background for college education reform, and to make perfect match with various aspects of universities. Some academics have also explained the association as this: a form which is to make up for the college discipline education, making the lives of university students more active. They made these studies from the complement function of the associations. We are trying to analyze the outer and inner characteristics of association from management and organizational behavior perspective, and the actual reasons why students choose to join the association and contribute their time and energy. From the contrast of formal and informal organizations, we redefine the nature of association, and find it isn't an informal organization as people always think. Instead, it has clear organizational structure, rules and norms and organization borders, which are the basic features of a formal organization. At the same time, association is not the organization of general sense, and it has some informal organizations characteristics, such as members have emotional demands of the organization, and leaders have power restrictions, etc.. Therefore, we define association as a loose formal organization with informal characteristics, and analyze its internal working mechanisms, as well as members' organizational commitment according to its nature. From the classic input - process - output (IPO) model, we use structural equation modeling method to analyze the relationship of internal and external association characteristics, work process and organizational commitment. We also make some modification of the model on the basis of theoretical and empirical analysis. Finally we construct a simple model to represent the relationship among the variables. |
