Looking back upon the history of Chinese education, we will notice that chanting is a consistent way for teaching classical poetry. In ancient times, chanting had never fall beyond the scope of poetry. When it comes to the modern era, especially to recent days when the new Curriculum Reform is going on with vigor and vitality, the long-standing and well-established education of classical poetry chanting, however, is neglected wittingly or unwittingly.Since the New Curriculum Standard was released, developing aesthetic accomplishment has become one of the principal objectives in the education of literature appreciation among high school students. It has been a grave issue, which every Chinese teacher is facing, to develop the aesthetic ability of high school students. This essay searches into the question of cultivating students'aesthetic ability in the background of the teaching of classical poetry chanting among high school students. It aims at rejuvenating the traditional pedagogy under the guidance of new teaching ideas. The topic will be divided into four parts for discussion:Introduction: Conceptualize the basic issues in the teaching of classical poetry chanting. Conceptualization from chanting and the teaching of chanting; the theory basis of the teaching of chanting; the realistic basis of the teaching of chanting; dissertation on some aspects in the current situation of teaching of classical poetry chanting among high school students.Chapter 1: Cultivate the aesthetic ability of students in the teaching of classical poetry chanting among high schools. Discussed in three aspects: 1. Interpretation on objectives of teaching of classical poetry among high schools in the New Curriculum Standard; 2. Teaching of classical poetry chanting among high schools is an important means in cultivating the aesthetic ability of high school students; 3. Cultivation of students'aesthetic cognition, feeling and appreciation ability in the teaching of chanting.Chapter 2: Research into the teaching resources of high school classical poetry. First research into in-class resources, then into poetry resources in everyday life, finally into information-based teaching resources of poetry.Chapter 3: Discuss the concrete measures to cultivate students'aesthetic ability in the teaching of classical poetry chanting among high schools. Discussed in three aspects: 1. How to enhance chanting demonstration; 2. How to cultivate students'habit of chanting; 3. Case study on teaching methods of classical poetry chanting among high schools.
