As the tendency and hotspot of current international science education, STS education is not only the combination of science and humanities education but also the important subject and direction on chemical education in middle school in China. However, compared with the developed countries, the beginning of STS education in China is a lit behind the times; the exploitation for it is not enough, and the demonstration education, especially the research work, is very little. Combining the chemistry education features of Nine-year Compulsory Education, this article makes much investigating and practical research on exploitation and utilization of STS to provide reference for chemical teachers on their teaching procedures.On the basis of understanding the concept of course inside and outside, the article, combining the new courses reform in our country, introduces to us the meaning of STS course recourses for chemistry teaching and the important sense for exploring and replying STS recourses. According to the chemistry teaching standard of Nine-year compulsory education and the content of the courses as well as the teaching conditions, questionnaire about the situation of STS exploration and application was made for the grade nine teachers on the reference of the achievements inside and outside .150 chemistry teachers in Shijiazhuang and its surrounding places have been involved for the questionnaire. Through the study of the outcome of the investigation, it analyzes the current situation of the exploration and application on STS courses in grade nine chemistry teaching, the teachers' attitude and competence towards STS. Draw a final conclusion after contrasting the influences among different school, sex, age, and educational background upon the exploitation and application of STS.Based on the questionnaire, teaching experiment about STS was designed and implemented, which posed the principles and strategies on the new-course background. Principles: 1) opening principle 2)economy principle 3) taking measures suited to local conditions and drawing on local recourses 4)aiming-at principle 5)personality principle 6)quantity and quality principle 7) exploration combined with application principles. Strategies: 1) exploring daily STS resources 2) exploring and applying community STS resources 3)exploring and applying STS resources in new tech 4) exploring and applying STS resources from teachers 5) exploring and applying STS resources from students. After 8 months' teaching experiment, it turned out that the exploration of STS resources can not only help students for their study but also guide teachers for their teaching. Consequently, the practice offers STS with some useful reference for the grade-9 chemistry teachers.
