The current essay is an analysis of the ugly characters described in some articles of the Chinese language textbooks for secondary schools in order to explain their inner beauty .This ugliness is rich in both form and content. By utilizing form and content, We can raise the awareness of beauty from an aesthetic point of the Chinese language in secondary schools. Based on the definition of ugliness and my research on the subject,the essay describes specificially the following three aspects:1.Ugly characters in the history of Chinese and foreign literature and their aesthetic understandings. 2.The aesthetic essence and features of ugly characters in Chinese course for high school. 3.Teaching practice and analysis of ugly characters .This is the key point discussed in this paper.I hope the essay will be helpful for the improvement of Chinese language teaching in secondary schools.
