As the historical reasons and the restriction of the education degree, the democratic consciousness of Chinese people is still weak, which does not correspond to our socialist modernization. Therefore, we should put the quality education into practice, and put the forming of the democratic consciousness, the basic quality of modern people, on its right position.According to the new demand of the times and the characteristics of history, the new curriculum criterion, issued by the ministry of education in 2003, meets the demands of political democratization and economic industrialization. The new curriculum criterion pointed out that "It's an endless and difficult historical process to grow from autarchy to democracy and change the rule of man into the rule of law. We should make a point of ideals that we need to fight for the building of democracy and the legal system." As a history teacher, we should try our best to study the text book, so that we can put the new rule into practice and promote both the democratic consciousness and the sense of law of our students. My essay was designed to arrange the origin of democracy and the process of the democracy of Chinese society. It also studies the inevitability and feasibility for this special course to form students' democratic consciousness.The whole text can be divided into three parts: the first part expatiates on the history of democracy and democratism, which combines the democratic consciousness of the young students and the importance of cultivating this consciousness. The second part demonstrates that history course is the important carrier of cultivating students' democratic consciousness combining with high school history new Curricular criterion .The last part discusses how to cultivate democratic consciousness in history studying, that is, teaching practice and quest.
