Abstract/Summary:
At present,there are more and more calls for educational democracy in compulsory education stage,and the balanced development of compulsory education is actually a call for educational equity and educational democracy.The trend of democratic education during the Republic of China has important significance for promoting democracy in Education.Various educational trends emerged like flood during the Republican period,and formed the prosperity of “Hundred Schools Contention”.Democratic education trend is one of them.It is oriented from Chinese traditional people-based thoughts and Huang Zongxi’s,based on western democratic education thought,transformed and gradually formed with the combination of China’s special national conditions.The educational and social background of democratic education trend is the promotion of political change,the promotion of economic development,the innovation of thought and culture,and the democratic practice of the two classes.This paper uses historical research method and literature research method to excavate the ideological origin and the historical background of the democratic education trend of the Republican period,combs the evolution course of the trend,and finds out that the trend has gone through four stages: emerging period,growth period,maturity period and short silence period.Through the analysis of the democratic education trend,four characteristics of the trend are summarized: the content is from single to plural;the manifestation is gradually diversified;the idea keeps up with the world’s advanced thought and absorbs the foreign democratic ideas;the development continues in the deepening of the national crisis.Finally,the author points out the following four conclusions and enlightenments: the realization of democratic education is a long historical process;the absorption of foreign democratic education ideas needs to be combined with the consideration of domestic conditions;the realization of democratic education needs the sacrifice of the Republican citizens;the advancement of education democracy need to be carried out from theoretical and practical levels.The pursuit of democratic education,realize the education of democracy is a long historical process,the period of the Republic of China’s democratic education thought has the important enlightenment and reference significance to the current education in promoting democracy.Democracy in the process of education,we should be democratic theory and practice,make democratic education we are much closer.
