On the influence of the tradition, social environment and the education system itself, there is a utilitarian trend in school education, which also exists in the pre-school stage, especially on the aspect of home education.The utilitarianism on home education refers to the undue emphasis on practical, instrumental, short-time effects of the family education applied by the parents, which ignores the developments of the character, spirit and merits of the individual as an all-round human. It shows people's eagerness for instant success and quick profits. It ignores or denies the ultimate aim of education to improve the mental development of the individuals. It regards the education as the only or leading value or criterion of the pursuit of the material profits and fame, which conceals the basic functions of education and converts the education into the tool of achieving the material gains.The infants are influenced greatly by the home education in the pre-school period according to their immature states. As the first teacher of their children, the parents stay with the children in the longest period, whose believes and actions of education have direct effects on their children's growing. In recent years, the home education in the pre-school period has become the focus of the society and the family. Based on the careful study and deep investigation, the author finds that the pre-school home education has converted its purpose into the pursuit of profits and fame unduly, which brings serious bad effects on the infants, the families, the kindergartens and the society, especially on the physical and mental development of the infants. The harmfulness might be profound and incurable.In order that the home education, especially the pre-school home education can develop well and avoid the harm of the utilitarianism of the home education on the development of the children, based on the analysis on the existed materials, connected with the interviews and investigations on the parents in Decheng, Dezhou, the thesis illustrates the phenomenon and harmfulness of the utilitarianism on home education, then make a profound analysis on the causes of it, then points out the strategies on how to rectify the Utilitarianism on home education with the purpose to offer help and inspiration on the theory and practice of pre-school home education and on the study of the Utilitarianism on home education.There are six parts in the essay. Part one is introduction, which explains the significance, approach, study condition of the problem analyzed in the essay. Part two defines and explains the connected concepts in order to clarify the direction of the study. In part three, the author makes investigations and interviews on the utilitarianism on home education in the city of Dezhou, then illustrates and analyzes the phenomenon of it. Part four, based on the results of the investigations and interviews, the author analyzes the potential harmfulness of the utilitarianism of the home education on the children, families, kindergartens and society. Part five is mainly about the causes of the utilitarianism on home education, especially in the view of the history, culture, society and family. In Part six, the author points out his advice on how to rectify the utilitarianism on home education in the aspects of renewing the education believes, setting up the social security system, reforming the educational system, reeducating the parents, etc.
