College Students’ Utilitarianism

Utilitarianism is one of the oldest theories in the history of human civilization, also known as the common or language barriers, is a theory depends on the practical effect or benefit as an ethical doctrine. The two of the most important characters of utilitarianism is going for happiness and maximizing the benefits. The west utilitarianism is primarily from the United Kingdomtraditional ethics, getting rapid development after the industrial revolution. Then culminated in the middle of19th century along with the invasion of western capitalism and began to grow quickly.these years it gets more and more people’s agreement.The theise consists with4prats:In modern society, the university campuses are always the culture centers,thus some of the students will be eroded by the utilitarianism inevitably. Evidenced in the practical tendency of learning motivation, taking party in the Communist Party utilitarian,interpersonal communication focusing on interests and career choice emphasis on economic benefits.The students’ideal will lead to the bad study habite, the decline in the overall quality of the party members,bad relationship and the maldistribution of talents.Searching the causes of college students’utilitarianism,whichcan be divided into three, social reasons, school reasons and the reasons from the students themselves. The social causes contain two sides:one is the spread and influence of western utilitarianism, the other one is the negative impact on the development of the market economy; School reasons due to secularization of culture on campus, as well as the too much attention to academic achievement. From the students’own way, first, the utilitarian family education, followed by the severe employment press faced by the graduates coupled with their immaturity and lack of true faith and ideals.Therefore, for the above reasons, to minimize the utilitarian thought’s adverse effects on college students, at least, we need to do something like these. In social terms, we should strengthen market order. What is more,in the schools term, we should purify the campus atmosphere, advocate returning to university’s originality, emphasis on academic honesty, and enhance teachers’education.Meanwhile, we need to further improve the education system, not only pay attention to the basic function of family education, would also like to stress the importance of moral education, while actively guiding University students in perspective of utilitarianism. As the successors of the Socialist cause, students should firm Communist belief, accept the Socialist values and establish a Marxism materialistic concept. Only in this way,can we consciously resist the erosion of utilitarianism, and establish a correct Outlook on life.Only in this way,can we become the talents whom our country really needs and become builders that socialism calls for.
