The author discovers that the number of paper on relationship between atlas and geography textbook is small through searching, categorizing, reviewing some literatures at home and abroad. The papers didn't express the topic clearly and thoroughly, so the author tries to make a quantitative research to express this topic deeply. The samples which the author selects contain two high school geography textbooks "geography 1" and "geography 2" which are published by People's education press in China. They are written in term of the national curriculum standard. The Chinese samples also contain two atlases that match the textbook from Sino Maps Press in China. Afterwards the author measures all the samples according to the techniques. Results with statistics indicate that the Chinese atlas and textbook don't have a significant difference on content of the images. The English atlas and textbook have a significant difference on content of the image. The Chinese atlas and textbook have a significant difference on domain scale of the images; the English atlas and textbook have a significant difference on domain scale of the images. The extent of difference is greater in English samples. The Chinese atlas and textbook don't have a significant difference on format of the images; The English atlas and textbook have a significant difference on format of the image. The Chinese atlas and textbook don't have a significant difference on scale of the maps; The English atlas and textbook have a significant difference on scale of the maps.In the last, the author discusses how to match an atlas and a textbook.
