A great reform of middle school Geography textbooks has been carried out since 199f4, when "Geography For Life: National Geography Standards, 1994" was issued national wide in the United States."World Geography" ( Glencoe McGraw Hill 2005) is a brand new version middle school Geography textbook with three major features: "Global Connection & Cultural Interactions", "View Point & Case Studies", "Skill Builder" , and "GeoLab Activities"."World Geography" (Glencoe McGraw Hill 2005) has made some valuable probe and contributions on learning methods. Mainly include four aspects: "Geographic Skill Building and Training" ; "Cooperative Learning"; "Critical Thinking Abilities"; "Problem Solving".Meanwhile, the 2005 version Geography textbook is also compiled with high qualities. Large quantities of atlas, maps, graphs, diagrams and photos are provided. And the physical and cultural features of World Geography are described in beautiful words. The organization of the contents is vivid and attractive.By quoting large amounts of the first hand materials from the textbook, the writer is trying to analyze the structural frame and the emphasis of the GEO textbook of the United States from the aspects of Philosophy, Education and Psychology. This analysis may provide some reference and help to the textbook reform, which is undertaken throughout our country.
