Cartoon as one of prevailing visual culture has has greater influence on a middle school student, especially on the painting and esthetic appreciative ability.I had some examination and study on this respect in our area in order to advance and improve our instruction in art.This survey can be divided into five parts: a middle school student's attitude to cartoon;the reason that amiddle school student is accessible to cartoon;the influence of cartoon on a middle student's esthetic and appreciative ability;the attitude of a middle school teacher and educationalists to cartoon. Through large amount of questionnaire and conversation,conclusions can be draw as follows:a middle shcool student has great intrerest in cartoon,with more enthusiasm on figure cartoon than other subjects,more enthusiasm on foreign production than domestic ones.There are two reasons that a middle school student favors cartoon,the objective one is that the technique of cartoon and the cultural environment under the prevailing visual culture have more sffinity on a middle school student;while the subjective one is that a middle school student has strong curiosity,strong thirst for knowledge,imaginative mentality,and unapprent progress in the development of painting ability.From the status of a middle school student drawing cartoon,cartoon has certain stimulus on painting of a middle school student.But it is easy to develop a kind of stable shape,which makes the long run development of painting ability have great limitation;looking from the influence of cartoon on esthetic appreciative ability of a middle school student,there are positive and negative one respectively;an elegant cartoon can give a student esthetic relish and contribute to the esthetic multilateral development.But cartoon also has certain passive impact on the esthetic view of a middle school student;for example,the narrow esthetic option;paying much more attention to esthetic form;being lacking in deep cultural exploring and so on.Looking from the attitude of a middle school teacher to cartoon,some teachers can think of the interest of a student;while some ones have great bias, deny cartoon art.But on the whole,a middle school teacher is short of examination and overall perception to cartoon and the impact of cartoon on a student.
