This study shows investigation and analysis of the professional stress among primary school teachers. It begins with a quantitative research by way of questionnaires into the professional stress of teachers in five primary schools in Tianhe district, Guangzhou. In the next part, some teachers have been interviewed and observed in the above-mentioned schools according to the aim of the study. Through a case study, a following qualitative research illustrates the actualities, sources and individual experiences of the professional stress. In the last part, some administrative strategies that may lessen the professional stress among the primary school teachers of this district are proposed.The results indicate that: l.The primary school teachers in Tianhe district generally experience considerable professional stress. 1/4 to 1/3 of them think their job very stressful, even extremely stressful. 2. Resources of stress are from society, parents and educational departments, as well as from students, tasks and school management. 3. In order to decrease professional stress among the primary school teachers in this district, school managers should help teachers to acknowledge stress, improve communication with parents, enhance the level of school management, help teachers enhance capabilities of class operation, and promote the professional development of teachers. And teachers should try higher level of time management and higher level of self-efficacy individually.
