Australian Higher Education Internationalization Features

With acceleration of development of internationalization of higher education in 1990s, it attaches more and more importance to the function of internationalization of higher education. The Australia had adjusted its policy of internationalization of higher education, and fully brought into play the effect of political, economic, social-cultural and academic function of internationalization of higher education, and promoted the change of internationalization of higher education from foreign aid to foreign trade, and economic function successfully replaced political function. On the basis of the function of internationalization of higher education and its change in Australia, suggestions are provided for the application of function of internationalization of higher education in China.The thesis consists of six parts. First, mainly about the meaning, present conditions, methods and deficiency of the study are described. Also, chief concept is explained. Second, it introduces the principle of internationalization of higher education. This part is divided into two aspects. The former introduces the historical development of rationales for internationalization of higher education. The latter sets forth the principle of internationalization of higher education, which includes political, economic, social-cultural and academic rationales. In chapter 3, it introduces the development of function of internationalization of higher education in Australia after WWⅡ.From political, economic, social-cultural and academic aspects, it analyses the function of internationalization of higher education in Australia in chapter 4. In next chapter, it analyses the reasons of successful change of the function of internationalization of higher education in Australia, which is from political to economical function. At last, referring to the used measure of function of internationalization of higher education in Australia, the thesis makes suggestions for the application of the function of internationalization of higher education in China.
