With the rising of globalized economy and information society, The internationalization of higher education is an important problem facing every country. The Australia had adjusted its policy of international education, and became some strategies for the internationalization of higher education. This thesis mainly studies the internationalization of Australian higher education, aiming to probe on the enlightenments and lessons from the internationalization of Australian higher education, so as to provide some useful suggestions and strategies for Chinese internationalization of higher education. With this aim, the thesis mainly employing factor analyses, historical methods and comparative methods and so on.The thesis consists of four parts as follows: preface; main body; references; postscript. The main body as follows: In part one , the incentives of internationalization consists of international and national factors. In part two, the historical examination of the internationalization of Australian higher education. It mainly consists of three phases: from Foreign Aid, Foreign Trade, to Internationalization. In part three, analysis of the factors which related with the internationalization of Australian higher education. These are the idea of institutional diversity, the higher education contribution scheme, the higher education quality assurance framework and regulation and codes of practice. In part four, analysis of the practice of internationalization of Australian higher education with the conceptual framework as follows: the idea of internationalization; the flow of people; the Internationalization of curriculum; international cooperation; establishment of institutions. In part five, the enlightenments and lessons from the internationalization of Australian higher education. Based on the former parts, the author gives the suggestions and strategies for our country. In the last part, discusses of the internationalization and nationalization of Chinese higher education.
