Textbooks take very significant part in teaching. It is not only the tool for teachers, but also a medium to help students to know the society. With the rapid development of technology and productivity promotion, countries around the word realize the importance of elementary educational reform. The textbook reform is the key point when we conduct teaching reform. Our country’s elementary education curriculum reform has full access to the stage of implementation. Document of curriculum reform requires that course content with "hard, complex, partial, old" should be changed. Moreover, the document requires to strengthening connection between subject content and life and attaching more importance to the relation between subject content and the development of modern society, science and technology. Thus, the reform of the textbook is a key link in the process of curriculum reform in our country and it is necessary to analyze textbooks for educator. The analysis of the textbook can be summarized into two aspects: the analysis of the deep structure and the surface structure analysis. The content of surface structure analysis includes:comparison of setting chapters in the text, textbook column setup and textbook illustrations etc. The comparison of deep structure analysis includes:comparison of knowledge elements, capacity factors and emotional attitude values. At present, academics have done a lot of comparative study on the textbooks. In this paper, we will use comparative research, content analysis research methods to compare the 《Physics:Principles and Problems》 and 《PEP physics textbooks for high school》.We will compare the teaching material column setup, experimental setup and problem sets in "electromagnetism" theme to summarize the experience of the physical education, the essence of each teaching material, and teaching material differences between the two countries.
