The trusteeship education as an extension of school education, which has satisfied with a variety of needs. At the same time, it also arouses a series of problems, in particular, the problem on lacking of learning autonomy. It was the interest on the trusteeship that made me to dedicate to the study on how to improve the trusteeship students’learning autonomy.Based on the preliminary research about trusteeship phenomenon, the researcher has created its own trusteeship institution, Ivy Garden. And a series of initiatives had been taken to improve the students’learning autonomy. Finally the researcher decided to try to use the group counseling approach to improve student s’learning autonomy. The group counseling considered the results of self-regulated questionnaire on primary and middle school students and the teaching observations from the researcher as the principle. And it selected eight junior middle school students, who had lower learning autonomy in the Ivy Garden, as the subject of group counseling. It lasted for two months and achieved good results. The study had shown that:1. The introduction of group counseling methods to the trusteeship had good effects for improving students’ self-regulated learning ability. It not only increased the level of student’s learning autonomy on the whole, but also the dimensions on learning motivation, learning methods, learning process and learning environment had been significantly improved.2. The program of group counseling for the trusteeship students’ learning autonomy had feasibility and effectiveness. Most of the students liked it a lot; furthermore, their study grades had improved in different degree.3. A series of measures were also playing an important part in improving students’ learning autonomy, such as improving learning environment, lifting teachers’ accomplishment, adopting behavioral shaping method, strengthening the communication with parents.4. Given the group counseling’s own limitations, we should combine with other educational methods and complement each other, making its function of educating people to come true eventually.
