China has always attached great importance to the female education, thus there was anincreasing number of books on female education and textbooks specifically for female educationwith the constant development of female education in ancient China. Ancient Chinese femaleeducation is rich in teaching content, approaches, patterns and methods, among which guidanceon female education through traditional history education becoming one distinct characteristic.Based on the investigation of female education books in Ming and Qing Dynasties, the presentstudy attempts to makes a systemic exploration into history education ideas in that period, therelationship between history education and female education as well as their modern apocalypse.This thesis is divided into four parts to discuss the female education in Ming and QingDynasties and history education. Chapter one attempts to presents teaching models, contents andfeatures of female education in Ming and Qing Dynasties, and tries to sort out and introduce thefemale education books focusing on presentation about historical figures and their allusions asthe leading education method based on the compiling system,. On the basis of literature reviewin chapter one, chapter two digs into the content and information in those books from threeaspects, specifically, moral education, self-cultivation and housekeeping education. In chapterthree, after extracting the history education ideas in female education books, this paper not onlyconcludes the functions and values of these ideas from the perspectives of pedagogy, sociologyand historiography, but also summarizes the enlightenment of female education in Ming andQing Dynasties to female education in modern society.As one part of history education in ancient China, analysis of the history education offemale teaching at that time is related to studies in various fields, such as historiography,pedagogy, ethics and sociology. Consequently, analysis of history education through discussingthe female education in ancient Chins is of great importance in digging the social functions ofhistoriography, expanding research field, promoting the interdisciplinary study of historiographyand deepening the understanding of related issues. Accordingly, the overall historiographydevelopment could be advanced.
