The development and utilization of local geography curriculum resources is a new research topic with the deepening of the new curriculum reform, which belongs to the field of exploring and employing geography curriculum resources. The regional and concrete transformation of local geography curriculum resources which features as diverse and various can meet the demand of different geographical learning. The effective development and employment of local curriculum resources deserves to be paid attention to and carry out deeper study. It is conducive to the establishment of local curriculum and school-based curriculum, the implementation of new geography curriculum reform, and the achievement of geography curriculum goals.The research on curriculum resources lasts short for the study of the geography curriculum resources started late in China. Thus, the study of local geography curriculum resources is rare. Based on the analysis of the related literature about geography curriculum resources, this thesis explains the definition of local geography curriculum resources and analyzes its characteristics; classifies it according to the classification method of "curriculum resources"; sums up the employment principles. This thesis provides theoretical bases of the development and employment of local geography curriculum resources in the perspective of psychology and pedagogy, which lays theoretical foundation for the further research.Based on the problems found in school during the internship, this thesis carried out interviews on some geography teachers and did classroom observations through the author’s internship. It draws a conclusion that there exist some problems in the development of the local geography course resources. That is, the teachers are not enthusiastic in development and lack the understanding of local geography curriculum resources. Besides, the way of employing local geography curriculum resources is monotonous.In order to explore the effective method of developing and employing local geography curriculum resources, this study analyzes the local geography curriculum resources of Shenzhen and reaches the conclusion that Shenzhen mainly consists four kinds of available local geography curriculum resources, which are local natural resources, local social resources, local Internet resources and local human resources. This thesis also analyzes the appropriate way and latent problems of employing these four resources.Combining with the previous experience of "geography curriculum resources", the thesis puts forward some ideas about the effective geography teaching of effective employment of local geography curriculum resources in middle schools:(1) Broaden the vision and seek effective developmentEffective development is the premise of effective utilization. The author thinks that we must first improve the initiative of geography teachers and improve their sense of ownership and ability to exploit. In addition, it should be paid attention to the position and value of both students and parents in this process which regarded as the potential human resources.(2) Keep pace with the times and update teaching methodsEffective employment of local geography course resources is the key of resources establishment. Thus, the author suggests that:firstly, break the traditional mode and create effective classroom; secondly, actively construct courses to promote students’ exploring learning; thirdly, conduct related activities and construct interest groups of geography.Develop positively and perfect evaluation systemTreat students with the vision of development, the comprehensive evaluation criteria and evaluation of multiple, content, the combination of qualitative evaluation and quantitative evaluation, from the traditional evaluation toward the goal orientation to goal orientation evaluation, process oriented evaluation and evaluation of the combination of subject orientation.The strategy of effective development and utilization of local curriculum resources is not only three aspects above and each method has to be further examined in the teaching practice. Because of the limited time and ability, this thesis is not deep enough. The author hopes to attract more attention from researchers to be paid to the employment of local geography course resources and the effective application in teaching practice.
