Consumption Structure, The Aging Of The Population In Shanghai

The problems of population aging has become a common topic that all the countries in the world face during the process of economic development, the population age structure of this variety causes its effects on every aspect of human life are being wider and deeper. As the biggest developing country in the world, the degree of China's population ageing is being intensifying, the growth of aging is rapid and show advanced age to turn development tide. Because of the arrival of an aged society with a quite undeveloped economy in China, so it is sure to bring tremendous influence on the economy and social development of our country.As the city of Chinese earliest access to the population aging, the aging situation in Shanghai has reached the average level of developed countries at present. In this paper, some characteristics of Shanghai's aging are found, such as the speed of aging is rapid, and a higher tendency of the advanced age, and so on. Shanghai has seventeen years of the negative population growth from 1993 to the present, with Shanghai's rapid economic and social development, which would depress birth-rate and death-rate still further. This means the population aging of Shanghai which will be constantly deepening. The elderly populations'consumption level and the consumption structure compared with other age population have significantly different, so with the increasing of the elderly population, it can critically affect the change of Shanghai's consumption structure.The first part of this paper made the entire analysis of Shanghai's elderly population with basic situations, and after the study, it labored the characteristics in aging development process; the second part systematically analyzed the changes of citizen's consumption structure and of elderly people's demands from 1980 to the present, and they special demand of social service, healthcare, spiritual culture and clothing was steadily increasing; the third part applied gray related degree to analyze the affecting factors in consumption structure of Shanghai's aging, and had drown that the aged spend more on transport and communication, residence, education, culture, recreation, and the consumption expenditure had declined in healthcare and clothing; on the basis of paper, the last part put forward in suggestions for optimizing Shanghai's elderly population consumption structure: First, vigorously develop the aging industry which is to improve the aging special consumption demand of an important precondition and also to overcome the arrival of population aging peak in Shanghai; second, actively carry out community service for the elderly, and put forward in that with the increasing of population of advanced age people who require more family and social care, so the community service development can meet they special demand; at the last, gradually perfect the old social security system by according to the Shanghai's actual situation, it improves the life quality of the elderly population, and keep on improving mechanisms for the protection of the rights of the aged.
