Mr. Feng Zikai once compared life to a three-storied building. The first story is material life, the second story spiritual life and the third story soul life. Currently, the material problems having been solved, the spiritual pursuit—the pursuit of art—has inevitably become a natural thing.Handwriting is a kind of arts, which deeply reflects our cultural spirit and esthetic pursuit. Handwriting teaching, which plays the roles of boosting virtues, intelligence, beauty appreciation and health, has been consistently a part of our excellent cultural tradition education. Compared with other courses, it has a non-substitutive advantage in the field of enhancing the levels of thoughts, quality of intelligence, ability of appreciating beauty and the charming of personality. Handwriting teaching in the school-based curriculum focuses on inheriting and developing the handwriting culture. On the previous study, it tries to make students research-conscious and improves their cultural literacy by means of experiencing, understanding and sensing handwriting art with the abundant and concrete teaching content and step-by-step teaching aim. It also tries to arouse students'resonance and mold their characteristics, purify their souls and spirit by appreciating the beauty of handwriting art and aims to cultivate students'cultural self-awareness and reinforce students'sense of belonging, identity and proud by excavating the core of handwriting.The thesis mainly focuses on the current study of handwriting teaching in the high schools abroad and at home, the necessity of conducting handwriting teaching and the content of handwriting teaching in the school-based curriculum, and the implementing of handwriting teaching in Ji'nan No. 3 Middle School and aims to open the window of handwriting art for students in the school-based curriculum in the middle schools of Ji'nan firstly and guide students to focus more and more on the excellent traditional Chinese culture and actively shoulder the responsibility of inheriting and developing our nation's traditional culture as well as building up their cultural awareness.
