In China, the study approaches on job satisfaction are still short of local characters. The depth and extent of the study seem to be limited. IT employee as a large employee group that has been rapidly rising under the background of knowledge economy was selected as the object of this study. This study aimed to explore the status quo of local IT employee's job satisfactioa For achieving the aim, this study developed a local questionnaire fist. This questionnaire was developed through a precise process. It was based on a broadly review of relevant literatures and experts consultation. First, a small scope pretest was taken. With the help of Software SPSS 11.0, the item analysis and the exploratory factor analysis was taken to modify the questionnaire. Then, after the examination of Cronbach a coefficient, a formal questionnaire was accomplishment. The formal questionnaire concluded six conceptual scales, ten measurable scales, sum to 50 items. 244 IT employee answered the formal questionnaire. Through data analysis, the formal questionnaire was proved with good reliability and validity.This study took personal information (included gender, age, marriage, education, tenure, position and rank.) as variables to discuss the job satisfaction of domestic IT employee. The main results are as follow: 1) the job satisfaction of male employee is generally lower than female. 2) Marriage shows varieties on different scale of job satisfactioa 3) No remarkable differences appear on age. But generally, employee below 25 years old is with more satisfaction. 4) Education has some influences on job satisfaction.
