Kuwabara Jistuzo(1870-1931) is one of the most prominent Japanese historian, who is very famous for studying Asia history, at the same time he also is a important representative of the Kyoto school in Japan. Within his whole life, he did a number of studies on China. But in China, neither himself nor his works has got enough attention, although his works have been often studied or even quoted as arguments .Studying on Kuwabara and his works should be much more deeper an more systematic, so this paper will be a critical biography both on Kuwabara and on his works based on reading the original text and previous studies.This paper is divided into three parts, the first part will talk about Kuwabara's life, to see how and why he could become a historian. And what kind of influence he received at that time.The second part is about the main works of Kuwabara and his contribution. He was proficient at languages of English, French and German. He wrote plenty of works during his whole life ,and he is thought of making a great contribution on compose text book of Asia history and also on the study of Asia history. In particular, his contribution on history study can be depart into three parts: History of Chinese Cultural, the Communication between east and west, and Legal history of China.The third part is talking about Kuwabara's study style and his concept from his works. He was a strict Scholar. He claimed that foreign information should be used on studying China. This article will talk about his study style, including the characteristics of his translations, that he is both a translator and a scholar with special characteristic of "double angle-stander".Finally, the paper also includes possession of Kuwabara's Chronicle and catalogue of major works for the experts and scholars who are interested to continue in-depth study.
