Song Zhidi, a famous modern writer of China, creates and adapts forty scripts, one collection of short stories, two prose, two reportage sets and large numbers of essays and critiques. There are 2500000 Chinese characters in these works. The theme of criticizing national character in Lu Xun's works lasts in Song Zhidi's works. Under the background of Anti-Japanese War, Song Zhidi reveals and criticizes Chinese deep-rooted bad habits. At the same time, he also arouses public awareness and resistance. Song Zhidi has done significant contribution to Chinese modern literature because of his tangible achievements and theoretical exploration.In this paper, the author regards these novels, plays, reportages and prose as the main objects for study. Through intensive reading, the author explores Song Zhidi's works features on contents and structure from three aspects; The first is the art reproduction of real life. The second is Chinese spiritual world. The third is structure innovation. From the relationship between the writer and society, this paper surveys the source of the writer's creative work and probes the relationships among Song Zhidi, the times and Lu Xun..Song Zhidi's literary creation under Left Wing background shows that the writer ever absorbs and refers to Chinese folklore, Russian literature and western modernist creative methods when writing. In addition, the paper analyzes why Song Zhidi studies disappointment and reproduce his literary generalist figure. It is obvious that Song Zhidi has got remarkable achievements in his creation. This paper shows his achievements abundantly. All in all, Song Zhidi has done peculiar contribution to Chinese modern literature and his works own a high art value in literature.
