| This paper analyses the language as a communication tool and a carrier of human culture. Thelanguage also synthesizes in a whole communicative functions and cultural patterns; it is the resultof these two attributes linked together. So far, linguistics and linguistic theory mostly havehighlighted language's communicative attribute, but have neglected the humanistic one. Theyapproached the internal structure of language from different angles and gave a quite exhaustiveexplanation of the language use, but didn't pay enough attention to the connections between culture, language and thought. The understanding of these connections changes how we view the"coding"caracteristic of the language. This paper attempts to discuss how this coding is performed, especiallyplacing emphasis on different kinds of writing and the cultural connotation they convey. |
