Since the British concession was established in Tianjin, it had began to develop construction of municipal facilities, which attracts a large number of wealthy Chinese to move here. But Chinese people were not treated fairly by colony, so they only changed their own status by startting a campaign of participating in concession's affairs before the concession was taken back.This paper is constituted of four chapters. Chapter One firstly elaborates on the instauration and municipal system of the British Concession in Tianjin. Secondly, it elaborates on the inherent cause of Chinese suffrage that tax-Chinese groups did not enjoy public rights in the British Concession of Tianjin. Finally, it makes a detailed research on the growing tax-Chinese groups which provids a basic class to Chinese suffrage. Chapter II analyzes the background of the activity, and specific contents of the Chinese suffrage that include an increase in the number of Hua Dong, the expansion of the right of Chinese suffrage as well as the establishment of Chinese taxpayer organization. Chapter III elaorates on the influence of Chinese suffrage in British Concession and analyzes the characteristic of the relationship between Chinese and foreigners. Chapter IV is about the general conclusion, pointing out Tianjin Chinese suffrage's nature of patriotism and the characteristic being different from Chinese suffrage of Shanghaiin.
