| The concept of modern relaxation appeared in the process of modernization construction based on mechanized manufacture.Therefore,the consideration on modern relaxation culture has to be carried out in the modern situation.The idea of modernity has always been closely related with aesthetics or practice of fine arts.The explanation made in this essay on the aesthetical value of relaxation culture is obtained against the modern background so as to stress the relativity among culture,modernity and aesthetics with the purpose of focusing on the overall development of human, an aesthetic anthropological issue.The exordium analyses the theretical significance of the research on this subject from the perspectives of social reality,theorectical value and individual significance and gives a brief introduction to the concepts concerning relaxation culture.The main body falls into two parts,including 6 sections.Part one focuses on the modernity that is the background of the emergence of modern relaxation culture.Firstly,modernity and relaxation are defined from the perspective of time. Relaxation is explained as the source and nature of free time with Marx's theory of free time.It is made clear that free time of Capitalists is based on the deprivation of worker's surplus working time with the purpose of taking possession of their extra products.Modernity,as a sense of time,is centered on the modern concept of time traveling in the form of a straight line and is dependent on necessary social working time.This concept of time decides modern time being global time featured by evenness,accuracy and uniformity,contrasting with living time characterized by unevenness, individuality and great verities,which,coupled with modern time,constitutes the modern profound contradiction.Secondly,modernity and individual development are in disagreement with each other. The modern time,which finds its survival base in necessary social working time,attributes to the main characteristics of modern rationalism and the mainstream ideas of the society,including the division of work,calculation,marketization,commercialization and urbanization.The fast technological innovation brings about the crisis of modernity as well as abundant material life.
