Jiangsu Secret Society (1937-1945)

Secret society was an edge influence during the modern times . In different periods , they undertook different social functions . Since modern age , the strength of secret societies in Jiangsu got obvious development. City type's gang and village type's daohui had special features in Jiangsu .When the Anti-Japanese War broke out completely, social order confused extremely. It caused Jiangsu's secret societies inflate and develop . In the meantime, they were influenced by the Chinese Communist Party , Chinese Kuo Mintang and Japanese Invaders. This paper will answer the relation of secret society and main society.During the early time of Anti-Japanese War, the GMT had no alternative, organized people's strength, and used them resist the Japanese Invaders. The armies of CCP came into Jiangsu, and established Anti-Japanese base areas of enemy's rear area, they applied flexible united-front. The Japanese Invaders surveyed the secret societies thoroughly, cultivated and brought them.While the coming of the late time of the anti-Japanese, seeing that the strength of CCP expanded, the GMT used secret them exterminate the CCP . In the meantime, the CCP strived, reformed and used them . It made many of the secret societies attend the war of Anti-Japanese and support it. In order to maintain the enemy-occupied area colonial rule , the Japanese Invaders used them extension their strength, especially break and collapse anti-Japanese base areas of CCP. After the Anti-Japanese War, many of the complicated secret societies submitted the side of GMT's .
